Retirement Planning

Pensions. An emotive subject. Complex and shrouded in intricate rules.

At Concierge Wealth Management we refer more so to “retirement planning” than “pension planning”. Retirement reflects a period of freedom, fun and good living. Pensions often inspire ideas of risk, loss, restrictions and high-profile financial failures.

We are here to help you structure and plan for your time after working life. We can help you understand and make effective use of the options available under current tax legislation, depending on your circumstances, and help you make appropriate use of available allowances.

Since 2015, the rules surrounding pensions have been made considerably more flexible. The options and benefits have been improved in many ways to ensure saving for our own retirement is as attractive as possible without too much dependency on the state.

At the same time, the Chancellor has reduced the amount of tax benefits that can be claimed each year, and so more than ever clever planning and specific assessment of your needs and options should be made yearly to help you make the most of the available options.

It is never too early to commence retirement planning, and in truth, never too late to improve it. The cost of delaying action can be high. We will aim to help you make the most of the benefits available. We can advise you on:

  • The suitability of the investments chosen for your retirement plan
  • The contract terms
  • The amount of contributions paid to the plan
  • The tax planning techniques used to maximise benefits
  • Death benefits

A pension is a long-term investment. The fund value may fluctuate and can go down. Your eventual income may depend on the size of the fund at retirement, future interest rates and tax legislation.
